Tiger bread loaf and white bloomer for 10p each, avacadoes for 5p and some croissants & pain de chocalat’s for 5p each - perfect supper :-)
We do make a lot of bread in the rustic kitchen so these loaves have been put in the freezer for emergencies - perfect for...

Less than a week to go until we go to the Village Craft Fair at Firbeck so that can mean only thing, yes a mad rush to get things ready!
Really looking forward to it and we’ve made a new batch of aromatherapy melts, body scrubs and Cerys has been busy making Christmas stockings on the sewing machine!

Rustic Mash
Well I can highly recommend our mash potato with fennel and sprout, absolutely delicious. Its remarkable how our frugal shopping routine has made us become a lot more creative with the ingredients that we find. I dare say we would have never tried this combination had I not found a cheap fennel the other day!!
And true to frugal form. The leftover mash is been turned into some fritters for...

Sunday Frugalness
Just happened to be passing a couple of supermarkets just before the 4PM closing time. Tonight’s bargains included a couple of cheap thick wholemeal loaves for the freezer (10p each) and a 5p tomato bread.
Some peppered Pollock fillets, sprouts, grapes, cucumber portions, a pack of diced chicken and a boxed salad made up the haul.
In keeping up with our new regime of seeing what dishes...

Frugal Update!
I’ve come to learn that there is always something hiding in the aisles to fit in with our new frugal buying and cooking regime. A couple of nights ago I managed to pick up two packs of 6 banana’s for 5 pence each!!!
The great thing is that we always have cake ingredients in the cupboards so a cheap find in the supermarket is great inspiration for an evenings baking now the nights are...

Frugal Time!
One of out latest crazes is to pick up as many bargains as we can from the supermarket and then see what we can make from the items that we picked up rather than choosing a dish and buying the ingredients. Last weeks assortment of super reduced veg has been turned into a fantastic array of soups, curries and roasts by Mrs A!
Last nights menu was cauliflower, potato and coriander soup and a main...
