Rustic Treasures

We are a small family from Doncaster, England who have come to enjoy all things rustic, handmade and thrifty! In fact frugal living has really become a huge part of our day to day routines!

We have recently started to create items such as handmade jewellery, organic bodycare products and using logs we find from the ground to create various table decorations.

This blog has been created to show you what we have been making, our ideas, what we are up to in general and what inspires us - that little part of our life filled with rustic treasures.

Ask me anything you like...

Frugal Time!

One of out latest crazes is to pick up as many bargains as we can from the supermarket and then see what we can make from the items that we picked up rather than choosing a dish and buying the ingredients.  Last weeks assortment of super reduced veg has been turned into a fantastic array of soups, curries and roasts by Mrs A!

Last nights menu was cauliflower, potato and coriander soup and a main course of cauli, chickpea and tomato curry :-)

Its becoming quite addictive and we’ve made a couple of late evening trips to the supermarket to see what we can find.  Last night was a stock up for the bread shelf in the freezer as we grabbed paninis, finger rolls and croissants as well as some more veg for the week.

Tonight’s stop off on the way home for some end of day reductions brought us some tortilla wraps for 5p, lettuce for 5p and a pineapple for 10p - great stuff!

I’ll post some pics of some dishes made with our finds as it will be interesting to see the net costs.
